This permanent, full-time position serves students across grades K-22, offering a chance to build lasting impact and foster meaningful relationships.
The school operates Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, creating a predictable routine and work-life balance. As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, youll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and classroom staff to tailor instructional experiences that meet each students unique needs.
Qualifications:
- Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Teacher of the Visually Impaired endorsement
- Experience supporting students who are visually impaired, preferably in a K-22 educational setting
- Strong understanding of adaptive technologies and braille instruction
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with families and staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized instructional plans for visually impaired students
- Adapt general curriculum using specialized materials, tools, and assistive technology
- Provide direct instruction in braille, orientation and mobility skills, and daily living techniques
- Consult with classroom teachers and team members to facilitate inclusion
- Conduct assessments and contribute to IEP development and meetings
- Act as an advocate for accessibility and inclusion within the school community
