Key Qualifications:
- Active Illinois Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license required
- Experience working with visually impaired students, ideally in a school setting
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to develop and implement individualized instructional strategies
- Passion for advocacy and inclusion in the classroom
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, specialized instruction tailored to the needs of a visually impaired student
- Adapt classroom materials and learning tools to ensure accessibility
- Collaborate with general education teachers and related services staff
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of accommodations
- Offer training and resources to educators and families to promote student independence
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods as needed
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with educational standards
