Key Qualifications:

  • Current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience working with school-age children or adolescents with visual impairments
  • Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technologies, and accessible instructional methods
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to partner with teachers, families, and support staff
  • Adaptability and creative problem-solving in dynamic classroom situations

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized instruction and support to students with visual impairments, both in mainstream classrooms and resource settings
  • Conduct assessments to determine needs, adaptations, and progress
  • Modify curriculum materials and lessons for accessibility and inclusion
  • Consult regularly with educational teams, offering training and guidance in best practices and accommodations
  • Advocate for student independence, self-advocacy, and meaningful participation in all school activities
  • Maintain accurate records, document progress, and prepare required reports for compliance
