Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Visually Impaired Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. This full-time position, based near Eugene, Oregon, is ideal for passionate educators who thrive in diverse educational settings and enjoy collaborating across multiple locations within a district. Hours range from 37.5 to 40 per week, with the assignment spanning the academic year, expected to begin in mid- to late August and conclude in late May or early June.

As a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, youll work directly with students, ensuring individualized support that empowers them to succeed in the classroom and beyond. Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as youll be traveling to different schools within the district (no remote or hybrid options are available).

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification with appropriate endorsement or credential for teaching students with visual impairments (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Experience adapting curriculum and instructional materials for visually impaired learners
  • Strong collaboration skills, with a background in working with multidisciplinary teams
  • Proficiency in assessments, including functional vision and learning media assessments
  • Ability to travel between multiple school sites within the district

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting materials and methods to individual needs
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure accessible learning environments
  • Conduct assessments and develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Provide consultation and support to staff and families
  • Maintain accurate documentation and participate in meetings as required
