As a dedicated specialist for this role, youll play a pivotal part in ensuring equitable access to education for children who are visually impaired within a dynamic, inclusive school environment.
This position is set to begin in early August and continue through the end of May. Interviews are being conducted now, offering you the chance to secure your ideal placement early. Final details regarding assigned schools, weekly hours, and full-time or part-time status are being developed in collaboration with school staff, so flexibility and adaptability are key. With the transition of a retiring educator, your expertise will be invaluable as you serve a varied caseload, potentially spanning multiple campuses and student age groups.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid and active Colorado Department of Education (CDE) certification specific to teaching students with visual impairments
- Experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired preferred
- Familiarity with specialized instruction and adaptive technologies
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to complete district background check and fingerprinting promptly
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative vision services to students, in alignment with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Collaborate with other educators and staff to promote accessible instructional practices
- Assess and implement appropriate accommodations and assistive technology
- Monitor and document student progress toward learning goals
- Engage in ongoing professional development and compliance activities
