Job Description
Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students by providing critical support as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. This full-time contract opportunity offers the chance to collaborate closely with dedicated educators and specialists in an onsite setting, working through the academic year from early September 2026 to June 2027. Youll be instrumental in guiding and empowering students to reach their fullest potential by designing and delivering tailored instruction that meets their unique needs.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligible to obtain NY state credentials
- Experience working with children or young adults who are visually impaired
- Strong understanding of braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional materials
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet evolving caseload needs
- Ability to develop individualized educational plans and support multidisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess student needs and help craft individualized instruction plans
- Provide direct and consultative services to students, teachers, and families
- Support access to curriculum materials through a range of adaptive tools and techniques
- Monitor student progress and document outcomes
- Participate in team meetings, IEP development, and other collaborative processes
- Adapt and modify curriculum to ensure accessibility and success for visually impaired learners
