Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students by providing specialized educational support as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI). This full-time contract opportunity focuses on delivering individualized instruction and resources to students with visual impairments in an onsite, school-based setting near Elgin, IL. Youll join a dedicated multidisciplinary team striving to ensure every student reaches their full academic potential.
Essential Qualifications:
- Professional Educator License (PEL) issued by the State of Illinois
- IL SLI License required
- Previous experience or strong familiarity with TVI best practices in educational environments
- Ability to develop, adapt, and implement instructional strategies and materials for visually impaired learners
- Collaborative and effective communication skills for working with students, families, and teaching staff
- Strong organizational and documentation abilities
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to students from now through the end of the school year (ASAP - EOSY)
- Assess student needs and develop individualized educational plans (IEPs), goals, and accommodations
- Implement a variety of instructional techniques and adaptive technologies suitable for students with visual impairments
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service professionals, families, and support staff to foster a supportive learning environment
- Monitor progress and maintain detailed records to ensure compliance and success
- Serve as a resource for increasing awareness and understanding of visual impairments within the school community
