Desired Experience and Qualifications:

• Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairment or eligibility for certification
• Previous experience working as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in a school setting preferred
• Proficiency in braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with staff, families, and related service providers
• Ability to adapt curriculum and instruction to meet unique student needs
• Reliable organizational and documentation abilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized educational plans for students with visual impairments
• Provide direct instruction in braille, orientation and mobility, low vision aids, and use of assistive technology
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt lessons and materials for accessibility
• Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to annual student evaluations
• Partner with families to support skill development and promote self-advocacy
• Uphold compliance with IEPs and maintain thorough records
