Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Kentucky SPED License with a Visual Impairment (VI) endorsement
  • Background in teaching or supporting visually impaired students in a school setting
  • Familiarity with Braille and accessible educational resources
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to advocacy and inclusion within academic settings

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction to students with visual impairments, fostering independence and academic growth
  • Collaborate closely with general educators, administrators, and families to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Adapt curriculum and materials to support accessibility for visually impaired learners
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records in accordance with school and district policies
  • Provide ongoing consultation and resources for staff to support an inclusive classroom environment
  • Counsel and guide students, facilitating development of self-advocacy and adaptive skills
