Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Kentucky SPED License with a Visual Impairment (VI) endorsement
- Background in teaching or supporting visually impaired students in a school setting
- Familiarity with Braille and accessible educational resources
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to advocacy and inclusion within academic settings
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to students with visual impairments, fostering independence and academic growth
- Collaborate closely with general educators, administrators, and families to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Adapt curriculum and materials to support accessibility for visually impaired learners
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records in accordance with school and district policies
- Provide ongoing consultation and resources for staff to support an inclusive classroom environment
- Counsel and guide students, facilitating development of self-advocacy and adaptive skills
