Desired Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Previous experience working with K-12 students who are visually impaired or blind
- Familiarity with Braille instruction and assistive technology for visual impairments
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to design, modify, and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs)
- Knowledge of relevant state and federal regulations concerning special education
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments, adapting lessons and materials as needed
- Assess students functional vision and learning media preferences
- Consult with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to foster inclusive learning environments
- Create and maintain accurate documentation for student progress and IEP goals
- Recommend and facilitate the use of assistive technology, orientation and mobility tools, and accessible educational resources
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to developing appropriate student goals
