Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility in the state.
• Experience working with K-12 students who are blind or have low vision.
• Knowledge of braille, adaptive technology, and accommodations for visually impaired learners.
• Strong organizational and communication abilities.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including special education staff, support professionals, and families.
• Commitment to advocating for student inclusion and empowerment.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement education plans tailored to individual student needs.
• Provide direct instruction in braille, orientation and mobility, and use of assistive technology.
• Consult with classroom teachers to adapt assignments and classroom environments.
• Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to IEP meetings.
• Offer guidance, resources, and training to school staff and families.
• Monitor and document student progress and adjust teaching strategies as required.
