Job Description

Empower the next generation of learners as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in an itinerant, school-based setting. This contract opportunity, located near Cypress, TX, covers multiple campuses in the Houston area and supports K-12 students with varying needs. Working full-time (37.5 hours weekly, Monday-Friday), or part-time if preferred, you'll collaborate with educators across schools to deliver high-quality, individualized instruction to visually impaired students.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in the State of Texas
  • Experience working with K-12 students in itinerant roles preferred
  • Ability to travel between multiple school locations
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach
  • Dedication to adapting teaching strategies and materials for visually impaired learners
  • Prompt completion of credentialing requirements as specified

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instructional support and adaptive strategies to K-12 students with visual impairments
  • Develop and modify educational materials, ensuring accessibility across all subject areas
  • Consult with general education teachers and other staff to facilitate inclusion and accessibility
  • Conduct assessments and contribute to IEP planning for each student
  • Support families and caregivers by offering resources and progress updates
  • Keep documentation and reports accurate and up to date as required by the district
