Job Description

Support a districtwide itinerant program by delivering expert instruction and resources to students who are visually impaired. This contract opportunity, based near Cypress, TX, focuses on empowering learners across multiple schools. You'll make a meaningful difference through specialized teaching, adaptive strategies, and advocacy.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) educator license required
  • Demonstrated experience supporting students with visual impairments in school settings
  • Proficiency in developing and adapting educational materials to suit individual student needs
  • Knowledge of assessment and assistive technology for the visually impaired
  • Strong communication skills for collaboration with diverse teamsfamilies, educators, and specialists

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and consultative instructional services to students with visual impairments throughout the district
  • Evaluate student abilities and develop individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to implement accommodations
  • Provide guidance and training to school personnel and families regarding visual impairment strategies and resources
  • Monitor student progress, document outcomes, and maintain up-to-date records
  • Travel between schools as an itinerant teacher ensuring comprehensive coverage and support
