Job Description

Inspire students and make a meaningful impact as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired serving elementary and middle school learners in a supportive district near Cumming, GA. This is a contract position with part-time opportunities for the current school year and the option to transition to full-time in the next school year. You'll be working hands-on to empower students with visual impairments to access curriculum, build independence, and achieve their goals.

Your caseload will consist of seven students, providing you the chance to deliver both direct and indirect therapy services, manage IEP cases, and track and report on student progress. Collaborative, organized, and compassionate educators who are well-versed in tools and instructional strategies for visually impaired children will thrive in this role.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid Georgia certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in educational settings, specifically working with visually impaired students
  • Strong case management and documentation skills
  • Excellent communication and ability to collaborate with families, teachers, and support staff

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide both direct and consultative services tailored to students individual needs
  • Manage IEPs, documentation, and compliance for your caseload
  • Work with general education teachers to modify instructional materials and environments
  • Regularly assess and monitor student progress, adjusting strategies as needed
  • Deliver support that fosters student independence and confidence
