Job Description
Support students in reaching their full potential as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in an onsite, part-time contract role for the 2026-2027 school year. This opportunity focuses on individualized instruction, working closely with one student for 1-2 hours per week at a welcoming school near Crystal Lake, IL.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Educator Certification required
- Experience or background as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) preferred
- Understanding of adaptive teaching strategies and Braille instruction
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with both students and staff
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instructional services for a visually impaired student, based on their unique needs
- Assess and adapt curriculum and learning materials to be accessible and engaging
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to ensure educational goals are met
- Document progress, update IEPs, and participate in meetings as required
- Advocate for accessibility and provide recommendations for assistive technology use
- Maintain a supportive environment that encourages student independence and confidence
