Job Description

Make a difference in the lives of K-12 students as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in the Sussex area. This contract opportunity offers a fulfilling role working with students who are blind or have low vision, helping them navigate academic and social development. Collaborate with educators and families to provide tailored support, instruction, and accommodations that promote educational success.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Teacher Certificate required
  • Specialized training or experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Strong understanding of adaptive technologies and Braille
  • Experience working with students at various educational levels, preferably K-12
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instruction to students with visual impairments, adjusting content and methods to meet individual needs
  • Prepare and adapt lesson materials for accessibility, including large print or Braille
  • Consult with classroom teachers, staff, and families to support student integration and achievement
  • Administer assessments to monitor progress and adapt goals
  • Advocate for necessary classroom accommodations and assistive technology
  • Maintain thorough documentation and student records as required
