Job Description
Make an impact supporting students with visual impairments as a dedicated educator in a full-time contract position. This opportunity focuses on providing direct and consultative services to students across multiple sites within a district. With the upcoming academic calendar under development, anticipate an assignment spanning from mid-to-late August through late May or early June.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering specialized instruction to students who are blind or visually impaired, adapting curriculum materials, and utilizing assistive technologies to ensure accessibility
- Collaborating with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to support student inclusion and success
- Conducting assessments and developing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students unique visual needs
- Providing guidance, support, and training to school staff and families to promote understanding of visual impairments
- Traveling between assigned schools to work with students in their educational environments
- Keeping records and progress logs in compliance with education standards and district requirements
- Engaging in professional development opportunities to stay informed about current best practices in the field
Qualifications and preferred experience:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or eligibility to obtain
- Demonstrated experience working with students with visual impairments in school settings
- Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility to travel to multiple locations as needed (travel required; no hybrid or remote options)
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
