Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification specializing in Visual Impairment
- Experience working with school-aged children with visual impairments
- In-depth understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and accessible instructional methods
- Strong communication skills for working with students, families, and educational staff
- Ability to adapt learning strategies for a variety of visual abilities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of students' visual and educational needs
- Develop and implement IEPs (Individualized Education Plans) tailored to each student
- Instruct students individually or in small groups using specialized techniques and materials
- Train and support classroom teachers in accommodating students visual needs
- Track student progress and document outcomes to support successful learning
- Collaborate with therapists, orientation & mobility specialists, and families for holistic support
- Advocate for resources and accessibility tools that empower your students
