Job Description

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification with a specialization in Visual Impairment (TVI)
  • Demonstrated experience supporting K-12 students who are blind or have low vision
  • Proficient in adapting curriculum materials to accessible formats such as Braille and large print
  • Comfortable with adaptive technology, orientation and mobility principles, and collaborative consultation
  • Strong communication skills for partnering with educators, families, and service providers

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) tailored to students unique strengths and needs
  • Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, focusing on academic, compensatory, and daily living skills
  • Modify classroom resources and assessments to ensure accessibility and equity
  • Conduct ongoing assessments and adjust strategies to promote student growth
  • Consult with general education teachers and staff to ensure accommodations are effectively integrated
  • Educate and empower families about resources, strategies, and progress
