Empower students to succeed as a dedicated educator for individuals with visual impairments in the Columbus, OH area. Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification for Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with students with visual impairments in a school setting
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Familiarity with assistive technology, braille, and adaptive instructional strategies
- Ability to assess student needs and create individualized education plans (IEPs)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments in individual, small-group, and classroom settings
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to provide inclusive learning opportunities
- Assess student strengths, needs, and progress; develop and implement IEP goals as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Provide recommendations and training on adaptive equipment and accessible materials
- Communicate regularly with families to share progress and resources
- Advocate for student access and accommodations throughout the school environment
