Job Description

Step into a rewarding role supporting students with visual impairments in a collaborative school environment near vibrant Colorado Springs, Colorado. This contract opportunity focuses on providing impactful instruction and compassionate guidance as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, working across a diverse caseload spanning ages kindergarten to 21 years, including young adults in transition. In this role, youll work 20-25 hours per week during the academic year, directly shaping students educational journeys and fostering independence.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification
  • Prior experience working with visually impaired students strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with developing, implementing, and evaluating Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Proficiency in conducting student evaluations and using accessible instructional technologies
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, staff, and families
  • Must be able to complete district onboarding and fingerprint requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Support a caseload of 9 students, grades K through age 21, with direct and consultative services
  • Complete ongoing evaluations and provide instructional adaptations for students unique needs
  • Develop and document IEP goals, progress, and compliance measures
  • Serve as a resource for staff on accessible instructional strategies and assistive technology
  • Participate in IEP team meetings, collaborating with school-based staff and families
  • Deliver services in a variety of educational settings, including K-12 and adult transition programs
