Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification or endorsement as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with students who are blind or have low vision, preferably in a school setting
- Proficiency in Braille instruction, assistive technology, and adaptive materials for visually impaired learners
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to assess and document student progress, adapting strategies as needed
- Commitment to fostering a positive, accessible, and empowering learning environment
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver individualized instructional plans tailored to each student's needs
- Provide direct and consultative services to students, classroom teachers, and support staff
- Teach Braille, orientation and mobility skills, and use of technology or tools designed for accessibility
- Advocate for students needs and provide resources to facilitate their academic and social success
- Support students access to general education curriculum through adaptations and modifications
- Participate in IEP meetings and complete required documentation and progress reporting
