Required Qualifications:
- Active Illinois PEL with Teacher of the Visually Impaired endorsement
- Experience working with visually impaired students strongly preferred
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability in various classroom settings
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments from kindergarten through age 22
- Adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to meet individualized needs
- Conduct functional vision assessments and provide recommendations for accommodations and assistive technology
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to foster inclusive education
- Support students in building independence and self-advocacy skills
- Maintain regular documentation and progress reports
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to program planning and evaluation
This full-time position runs Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 3:30pm, providing a consistent schedule in a supportive learning community.
