Key Qualifications:

• Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments in an educational setting
• Strong understanding of Braille instruction, assistive technology, and adaptive strategies for curriculum access
• Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, families, and support staff
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet diverse student needs

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments across various grade levels, both individually and in small groups
• Conduct functional vision assessments and learning media assessments to inform individualized education programs (IEPs)
• Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to students unique needs and learning styles
• Train students and staff in the use of assistive technology, mobility aids, and adaptive equipment
• Advocate for the inclusion and accessibility of all educational materials and activities
• Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports in alignment with school policies and legal requirements
• Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
