Job Description

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments
  • Solid understanding of braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Organizational and problem-solving abilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess students vision needs and develop tailored instructional strategies
  • Provide direct teaching and support for students in individual and group settings
  • Coordinate with classroom teachers to adapt lessons and materials
  • Recommend and train on suitable assistive technology
  • Participate in IEP meetings and maintain accurate documentation
  • Work closely with families to facilitate continuity of care and learning
