Job Description

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid certification or credential as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
  • Experience working with K-12 students in educational settings
  • Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive teaching strategies
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Passion for advocating for students with visual impairments
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

Responsibilities:

  • Assess student needs and develop personalized instructional plans to support their educational goals
  • Provide direct instruction in Braille, low vision strategies, and the use of assistive technology
  • Collaborate with teachers, aides, and therapists to adapt classroom materials and environments
  • Support families by offering guidance, resources, and regular progress updates
  • Monitor, record, and report on student progress, making adjustments as needed
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions
