Job Description

This full-time teaching opportunity focuses on supporting K-12 students who are visually impaired within a dynamic school environment in Chesapeake, VA. The contract runs from August 2025 through May 2026 with a standard 37.5-hour workweek. This role is ideal for dedicated professionals passionate about providing specialized education to visually impaired students and facilitating their academic success and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the unique learning needs of visually impaired students across K-12 grade levels
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) consistent with students vision-related needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to promote inclusive educational experiences
  • Utilize assistive technologies and adaptive materials to enhance learning accessibility
  • Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Virginia endorsement in Blindness & Visual Impairments is required
  • Prior experience working with visually impaired students in educational settings preferred
  • Strong understanding of instructional methods and accommodations for vision disabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple students needs within a caseload
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams and families

  • Chesapeake, VA (with opportunities also noted in Norfolk and Suffolk, VA)
