An opportunity is available for a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired to support students from kindergarten through 12th grade within a well-established school district serving Chesapeake, Norfolk, and Suffolk, VA. This full-time contract role runs from August 2025 through May 2026, providing specialized instruction tailored to students with visual impairments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments.
- Deliver specialized instruction that enhances learning and independence in academic and functional skills.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and support staff to promote inclusive learning environments.
- Utilize assistive technology and adaptive materials to support student learning.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting strategies to meet unique needs.
Qualifications:
- Virginia Endorsement in Blindness & Visual Impairments is mandatory.
- Experience working with visually impaired students across K-12 settings.
- Strong knowledge of instructional techniques and resources beneficial to visually impaired learners.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage a full caseload and maintain compliance with educational standards.
Location & Schedule:
- Position is based in Chesapeake, VA, with opportunities across neighboring cities Norfolk and Suffolk.
- Full-time engagement with approximately 37.5 hours per week.
- Contract duration: August 2025 to May 2026.

Interviews will be conducted promptly using situational questions, with decisions made within 24 to 48 hours to ensure timely placement.
