Job Description

Empower K-12 students to achieve their fullest potential by supporting their educational journey as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired on a contract basis. If you have a passion for providing high-quality instruction tailored to the unique needs of visually impaired students, this specialized role is an exciting opportunity. With a flexible commitment of 6-7 hours per month, once a week, youll provide critical guidance and create accessible learning experiences for students across a range of grade levels.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current GA License for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired is required
  • Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments, ideally in a school setting
  • Strong collaboration skills to work alongside teachers, families, and student support staff
  • Adept at developing individualized education plans and adapting materials to accommodate visual needs
  • Clear communicator with a patient, compassionate approach

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instructional support and interventions based on students Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Assess students functional vision needs and recommend appropriate equipment or accommodations
  • Collaborate with educators and families to foster inclusive classroom environments
  • Provide training and resources to staff and families on best practices for supporting visually impaired learners
  • Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation
