Key Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or equivalent endorsement
- Previous experience working with visually impaired or blind students in a school environment
- Strong understanding of braille, assistive technology, and strategies for accessible learning
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with educators, families, and related service providers
- Ability to create individualized adaptations and accommodations to maximize student success
- Passion for fostering independence and advocating for students' unique learning needs
Role Responsibilities:
- Assess individual student needs and develop tailored instructional plans
- Teach academic content, daily living skills, and orientation/mobility techniques as appropriate
- Introduce and support the use of braille and accessible materials
- Partner with classroom teachers and staff to ensure a supportive and inclusive environment
- Monitor student progress, document outcomes, and adjust interventions accordingly
- Educate and mentor school personnel and families on best practices for working with visually impaired learners
