Key Qualifications:

  • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or equivalent endorsement
  • Previous experience working with visually impaired or blind students in a school environment
  • Strong understanding of braille, assistive technology, and strategies for accessible learning
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with educators, families, and related service providers
  • Ability to create individualized adaptations and accommodations to maximize student success
  • Passion for fostering independence and advocating for students' unique learning needs

Role Responsibilities:

  • Assess individual student needs and develop tailored instructional plans
  • Teach academic content, daily living skills, and orientation/mobility techniques as appropriate
  • Introduce and support the use of braille and accessible materials
  • Partner with classroom teachers and staff to ensure a supportive and inclusive environment
  • Monitor student progress, document outcomes, and adjust interventions accordingly
  • Educate and mentor school personnel and families on best practices for working with visually impaired learners
