Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility for certification
  • Experience or coursework in teaching students with visual impairments (K-12 preferred)
  • Proficiency in Braille, assistive technology, and accessible educational materials
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to adapt curriculum and assessments for diverse learners

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess students to determine appropriate instructional strategies and accommodations
  • Deliver individualized and group instruction in both academic and functional skills
  • Consult with classroom teachers on adaptations and modifications for visually impaired students
  • Develop and implement individualized education program (IEP) goals
  • Provide direct support and training to families and school staff
  • Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
