Make a meaningful difference this summer by supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI/BVI) in a specialized educational environment. This position focuses on Extended School Year (ESY) services, beginning June 8, 2026, through August 4, 2026. Youll work within a single building, guiding a caseload of 10-15 students, Monday through Thursday from 8:45 AM to 12:45 PM20 hours per week. The setting is designed for students with significant behavioral and physical challenges, creating a unique opportunity to utilize your expertise where it matters most.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification for Blind/Visually Impaired education (TVI/BVI)
- Previous experience working with students who have severe behavioral and/or physical disabilities
- Strong skills in adapting and modifying curriculum for accessibility
- Collaborative spirit and excellent communication abilities
- Flexibility and resilience in a dynamic, specialized school environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction for students with visual impairments, using adaptive techniques and tools
- Develop, implement, and review IEP goals in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams
- Create visually accessible classroom materials tailored to student needs
- Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation
- Serve as a resource for staff and families, advocating for the diverse needs of visually impaired learners
