Job Description

This contract position offers the unique opportunity to provide specialized instruction and advocacy to students with visual impairments in a collaborative school environment near Burleson, TX.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • State certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired in a school setting
  • Proficiency in Braille and assistive technology for visually impaired students
  • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work closely with students, families, and staff
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet diverse student needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative special education services to students with visual impairments
  • Assess and evaluate students visual functioning and educational needs
  • Develop and deliver individualized instructional plans in coordination with IEP teams
  • Collaborate with general and special education teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure student progress
  • Adapt curriculum, materials, and learning environments for accessibility
  • Monitor student progress, maintain documentation, and participate in eligibility and planning meetings
  • Offer guidance on assistive technology, orientation and mobility, and daily living skills as needed
