Desired Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification with an endorsement in Visual Impairments
  • Experience working with children or young adults with visual disabilities in an educational setting
  • Knowledge of Braille and assistive technology for the visually impaired
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Adaptable and innovative mindset to individualize instruction
  • Ability to collaborate with general educators, specialists, and families

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, both individually and in group settings
  • Assess individual student needs, and create appropriate educational plans
  • Develop and adapt lesson materials to be accessible in Braille, large print, or digital formats
  • Work closely with school staff to ensure students learning needs are met and accommodations are provided
  • Consult with families and other professionals to support students progress and advocate for resources
  • Track and document student progress, contributing to education plans and report updates
