Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or related field
- Valid state teaching certification with endorsement for teaching students with visual impairments
- Experience working with children or young adults who are visually impaired or blind
- Proficiency in Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Commitment to individualized education and inclusivity in the classroom
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement instructional plans customized for students with visual impairments
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to support student progress
- Conduct assessments to evaluate student abilities and adapt materials as needed
- Provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility, and use of assistive technologies
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to educational planning
- Serve as a resource for staff and families regarding visual impairment accommodations and strategies
