Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairment or related field
- Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments
- Strong understanding of Braille instruction and adaptive technology
- Ability to develop and modify Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
- Flexibility to adapt instructional strategies based on student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction in core subjects and specialized skills such as Braille, orientation and mobility, and assistive technology
- Assess student abilities and design customized instructional plans
- Develop accessible materials and resources for students with visual impairments
- Consult and collaborate with general education teachers on accommodations and modifications
- Participate in IEP meetings and maintain thorough documentation of student progress
- Promote independence and advocacy skills among students
