Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairment or related field
• Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments
• Strong understanding of Braille instruction and adaptive technology
• Ability to develop and modify Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
• Flexibility to adapt instructional strategies based on student needs

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction in core subjects and specialized skills such as Braille, orientation and mobility, and assistive technology
• Assess student abilities and design customized instructional plans
• Develop accessible materials and resources for students with visual impairments
• Consult and collaborate with general education teachers on accommodations and modifications
• Participate in IEP meetings and maintain thorough documentation of student progress
• Promote independence and advocacy skills among students
