Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification with endorsement in Visual Impairment (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Proven experience working as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in a school environment
  • Familiarity with Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive devices for students with visual impairments
  • Strong understanding of IEP processes and ability to design individualized educational plans
  • Effective communication skills when collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, students, and parents
  • Compassion, patience, and a genuine commitment to enhancing students independence and confidence

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments, both individually and in groups
  • Assess students needs and adapt curriculum, materials, and instructional strategies accordingly
  • Implement and support the use of assistive technology and Braille instruction
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with state and federal requirements
  • Participate in IEP meetings and provide expert input for accommodations, goals, and service needs
