Job Description

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Valid New York State Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification or eligibility to obtain one
  • Previous experience teaching students with visual impairments preferred
  • Strong communication skills, adaptability, and a growth mindset
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive student support
  • Up-to-date knowledge of adaptive technology, Braille, and accessible instructional methods

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments, adapting curriculum and assessments as needed
  • Evaluate students' functional vision and provide recommendations for instructional strategies

  • Collaborate with general education staff and related service providers to ensure accommodations are in place
