Make a real impact supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in the Billings, Montana area! This contract position invites your expertise to foster independence, enhance learning, and support K-12 students in achieving their educational goals.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Knowledge of Braille instruction and adaptive technologies
- Experience developing and adapting IEPs for students with visual impairments
- Familiarity with the latest assistive tools, including screen readers and magnification devices
- Strong communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration with educators, students, and families
- Ability to assess vision needs and tailor instruction for a variety of ability levels
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments across different grade levels
- Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) to support student learning and progress
- Collaborate with general and special education staff to ensure accommodations are meaningful and effective
- Train students in the use of Braille, large print, tactile graphics, and assistive technology
- Conduct functional vision assessments and recommend appropriate materials, equipment, and supports
- Serve as a resource to faculty and family members, offering strategies and training for inclusive education
- Advocate for accessibility within classroom settings and school activities
