Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience with braille instruction and adaptive technology
  • Knowledge of screening and assessment tools for visually impaired students
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Strong collaborative skills for partnering with general educators, therapists, and families
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, individually and in small groups
  • Adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments to accommodate students' needs
  • Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments to support appropriate educational planning
  • Consult with classroom teachers and staff to implement accommodations and modify activities as needed
  • Support students in building self-advocacy skills and maximizing independence
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and parent conferences
  • Maintain accurate records and progress reports as required
