Make a lasting impact in the lives of students by providing expert instruction and support as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired during the 20262027 school year. Deliver much-needed services onsite, working closely with dedicated colleagues, families, and multidisciplinary teams to promote educational access and growth for students with visual impairments. With district assignment and caseload details to be determined, this role promises variety and meaningful engagement across educational settings.
Key Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience as an educator for students with visual impairments
- Current certification or licensure in special education for visual impairments
- Strong collaborative skills, comfortable partnering with general education teachers, specialists, and families
- Proficiency in developing, implementing, and tracking IEP goals and accommodations
- Commitment to fostering student independence and participation
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, supporting progress toward academic and developmental goals
- Collaborate with school staff to adapt curriculum materials, tools, and classroom environments
- Conduct and interpret assessments to determine students functional vision and learning needs
- Participate in multidisciplinary IEP meetings to share insights and help craft effective educational plans
- Offer training and guidance to staff and families on best practices, assistive technology, and accessible resources
