Job Description

Key Qualifications:

  • Holds an Illinois SLI License
  • Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) required
  • Experience teaching students with visual impairments is highly valued

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction, adapt curriculum, and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students who are visually impaired
  • Collaborate closely with general education teachers, special education staff, and other service providers
  • Evaluate and monitor student progress, documenting outcomes and adjusting strategies as needed
  • Advocate for accommodations, resources, and assistive technology to promote student independence
  • Educate staff and families on best practices and strategies for supporting visually impaired learners
  • Maintain accurate records and meet all compliance requirements
