An exciting opportunity awaits a skilled educator passionate about supporting students with visual impairments in a dynamic school environment near Aurora, CO. This full-time, onsite contract position runs from July 31, 2026, through May 26, 2027, and spans 35 hours weekly, Monday through Friday. The caseload ranges from early childhood education to high school age, with district-based assignments that may span multiple campuses.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Active Colorado DOE certification with an endorsement in Special Education Specialist Visual Impairment (ages 0-21) (required)
- Masters degree or higher from a recognized institution in special education visual impairment or equivalent
- Experience working with students from birth through age 21 with visual impairments
- Orientation & Mobility (O&M) certification preferred, but not required
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organization skills
- Ability to complete district background check and fingerprinting process
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct functional vision and Expanded Core Curriculum assessments to determine student eligibility and needs
- Develop and implement individualized education programs tailored for visually impaired learners
- Deliver targeted instruction, including orientation and mobility skills, in both classroom and community settings
- Adapt materials and environments to maximize student accessibility and engagement
- Maintain accurate documentation and student records in compliance with district and state guidelines
- Collaborate closely with families, teachers, and district teams to ensure comprehensive student support
- Participate in school and district initiatives, aligning with strategic educational goals
