Job Description

A school district in the Denver area is seeking a dedicated Teacher for the Visually Impaired to provide specialized instructional support for students with visual impairments during the 2026-2027 school year. This contract position will be based onsite in Arvada, CO, with assignments varying by student needs and campus locations. The role requires flexibility as full-time or part-time hours have yet to be finalized.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
  • Provide direct instruction and support utilizing specialized techniques and assistive technologies
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and support staff to ensure inclusive educational experiences
  • Monitor student progress and adjust strategies to meet evolving needs
  • Assist with transition planning and advocate for student access to resources

Qualifications:

  • Active Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
  • Experience working with school-aged children who have visual impairments
  • Ability to complete required background checks and fingerprinting per district policy
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Adaptability to varying caseload sizes and school assignments

Locations & Schedule:

  • Onsite position in Arvada, CO, serving schools in the Denver metro area
  • Contract runs from August 6, 2026, through May 26, 2027
  • Weekly hours and specific school assignments are to be determined based on district needs
