Qualifications & Experience Desired:
- State certification/licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Previous experience working with students who have visual impairments, preferably in a school setting
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and accessibility tools
- Ability to assess students' needs and develop individualized educational plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and staying current with best practices
Responsibilities Include:
- Delivering instruction tailored to each students individual needs in areas such as Braille, adaptive technology, and orientation/mobility
- Collaborating with general education teachers, special education teams, and families to support inclusive learning
- Conducting assessments and contributing to the development, implementation, and monitoring of IEPs
- Providing training or consultation to school staff on techniques, resources, and strategies
- Tracking student progress and maintaining clear, timely records
- Promoting student independence, self-advocacy, and access to general curriculum
