Job Description

Make a difference working in an educational setting as a Visually Impaired Teacher supporting students near Arlington, TX. In this contract position, youll collaborate with educators and staff to provide specialized instruction and tailored resources for students who are visually impaired, helping them succeed academically and develop essential life skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification for Visually Impaired education, or equivalent state credential
  • Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments
  • Strong knowledge of braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with teachers, families, and other professionals
  • Ability to participate in IEP development and progress monitoring
  • Patient, flexible, and compassionate working style

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess students vision-related needs and develop individualized instruction plans
  • Teach core subjects and life skills using appropriate accommodations, including braille and assistive devices
  • Provide direct instruction to students in various settings (mainstream classrooms, resource rooms, one-on-one)
  • Consult and support classroom teachers to ensure accessibility and inclusion
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and contribute to IEPs
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and needed support
  • Recommend and manage adaptive equipment or technology to facilitate learning
