Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid state teaching certification in Visual Impairment or comparable endorsement
- Proficiency in Braille instruction, orientation and mobility strategies, and adaptive technology for visually impaired students
- Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with teachers, families, and support personnel
- Flexibility, patience, and a passion for creating inclusive learning experiences
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction tailored to the unique needs of each student with visual impairments
- Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments to inform educational planning
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments
- Provide guidance and training to staff and parents on best practices and accommodations
- Monitor student progress, maintain thorough records, and participate in IEP meetings
- Advocate for accessibility and equal educational opportunities across the school community
