This contract opportunity for a skilled Teacher of the Visually Impaired allows you to make a meaningful impact by tailoring instruction to the unique needs of each student, collaborating with dedicated educators, and fostering a supportive learning environment. Youll work with students of varying ages, helping them build essential skills for academic achievement and independent living.
Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility to obtain Texas certification
- Experience providing direct instruction and developing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
- Strong collaboration skills for working with fellow teachers, staff, and families
- Familiarity with adaptive technology and Braille instruction
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Flexibility and a compassionate approach to diverse learning needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess student strengths and needs, implementing tailored instructional strategies and accommodations
- Design and deliver individualized lessons, including Braille and orientation/mobility skills as required
- Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and parents to ensure students success
- Support the use of assistive technology and classroom modifications to maximize accessibility
- Participate in IEP meetings, progress report writing, and student evaluations
- Advocate for visually impaired students needs within the school community
