Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Education of the Visually Impaired or a related field
• Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) required
• Experience working with school-aged children with visual impairments
• Familiarity with Braille, orientation and mobility concepts, and assistive technology
• Strong communication skills; ability to consult with teachers, staff, and families
• Capability to adapt instructional materials and strategies for diverse learners

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess students functional vision and learning needs
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals focused on visual impairment
• Provide direct instruction in Braille, use of low vision devices, and daily living skills
• Modify classroom materials and collaborate with general education teachers
• Support orientation and mobility specialists and integrate strategies into the classroom
• Advocate for the use and maintenance of assistive technology
• Engage in consistent communication with parents, teachers, and related service professionals
