An opportunity is available for a knowledgeable Visually Impaired Teacher to support students with visual impairments in an educational setting. This role focuses on creating a positive and inclusive learning environment, tailored to the unique needs of students who require specialized instruction and guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess the individual needs of students with visual impairments and develop personalized instructional plans.
- Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to accommodate visual limitations and promote academic progress.
- Provide training and support to staff and families on strategies to assist visually impaired students.
- Utilize assistive technology and accessible materials to enhance learning experiences.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive support services.
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching approaches accordingly.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification or licensure as a teacher of students with visual impairments.
- Experience working with children who have visual impairments in a school setting.
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technologies, and orientation and mobility techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate patience and empathy.
