Job Description

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience working with school-aged children with visual impairments
  • Familiarity with Braille and assistive technologies for the visually impaired
  • Strong communication skills for collaboration with staff, students, and families
  • Ability to develop and adapt Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) according to student needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments in individual or small group settings
  • Assess students functional vision and learning needs, recommending adaptive materials and accommodations
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, therapists, and administrators to maximize student inclusion and achievement
  • Provide orientation and mobility training or coordinate with specialists as necessary
  • Offer resources and support to families and caregivers, empowering them to reinforce learning at home
  • Maintain organized documentation for student progress and compliance purposes
