Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with school-aged children with visual impairments
- Familiarity with Braille and assistive technologies for the visually impaired
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with staff, students, and families
- Ability to develop and adapt Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) according to student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments in individual or small group settings
- Assess students functional vision and learning needs, recommending adaptive materials and accommodations
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, therapists, and administrators to maximize student inclusion and achievement
- Provide orientation and mobility training or coordinate with specialists as necessary
- Offer resources and support to families and caregivers, empowering them to reinforce learning at home
- Maintain organized documentation for student progress and compliance purposes
