Job Description
Make a positive impact supporting students with visual impairments for the 2026-2027 academic year in a contract opportunity near Anoka, MN. This part-time role is tailored for dedicated teachers specializing in serving students who are blind or visually impaired. Provide both direct and indirect instructional support for a manageable caseload, focusing on student progress and accessibility, including one student currently learning Braille.
Key Qualifications:
- Hold an active special education teaching license in Blind or Visually Impaired (BVI) issued by the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB)
- Experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments in school settings
- Strong knowledge of accommodations, assistive technology, and instructional strategies for students with visual needs
- Comfortable delivering both direct instruction and consultative services
- Effective communicator able to collaborate with students, staff, and families
Role Overview:
- Provide direct and indirect instructional minutes for approximately 23 students across assigned schools
- Deliver services in alignment with IEPs, with no case management responsibilities
- Support one student learning Braille with specialized instruction as needed
- Collaborate with teachers and support teams to ensure instructional access and appropriate accommodations
- Maintain documentation and service logs as required by district guidelines
- Participate in meetings and consultations to advocate for student needs
